Youth Governance Day
Date: June 6th, 2025
Location: Miami-Dade County’s 35 local municipalities
Description: High school students will serve as mayor for the day in Miami-Dade County’s 35 local governments, making it the first program of its kind nationwide.
Miami-Dade County Civic Knowledge Bowl
Date: February 27th, 2025
Location: Miami-Dade College North Campus
Description: A competitive academic event that challenges students on their understanding of civic literacy and government processes.
Florida Student School Board Member Initiative
The FL SSBMI is a statewide student-led advocacy initiative pushing for the addition of student representative positions on Florida school boards. We are looking for motivated high school students from across Florida willing to take on a major leadership role in the Florida Student School Board Member Initiative.
Constitution Day Quest

Location: Miami Lakes Town Hall
Description: Held annually at Miami Lakes Town Hall, this event brings middle school students together to learn about the U.S. Constitution through interactive activities and guest speakers.

Civic Excellence Gala

Description: A celebration recognizing students and educators dedicated to fostering civic engagement. The event features guest speakers, awards, and presentations that encourage thinking globally while acting locally.
City of Hialeah vs. Town of Miami Lakes Charity Basketball Game
An annual charity basketball game featuring Mayor Manny Cid and Mayor Steve Bovo, raising funds for student civic engagement programs.
